Friday BBQ Spotify 12/27/13

No Comments27 December 13:07

45 RPM Adapters

It’s that time of the year again. The time when we see Top Ten lists of all kinds, from Top Ten Movies to Top Ten Tweets to Top Ten Worst Celebrity Plastic Surgeries of the Year. (That one must have been hard to cull down to ten.) I’m sure there’s some lists that you look forward to, and others that make you scratch your head wondering why someone would even create a list for them. And that’s where this list comes in. I tried to take my favorite songs from this year’s collections of Friday BBQ Spotify playlists, and it was tough – so tough that I was lucky to get it down to a Top 40 list. I’m someone who’s really affected by the media I watch or listen to. I tend to repeat-watch movies that affect me emotionally, and I listen to music that makes me think within. I certainly don’t expect people to react the same way to the music that affects me. And that’s the important thing about my Top 40 list. I invite you to create your own Top 40 list, or Top 20, or even Top 10. Songs that affect you, that light your fire or help you think about the ones you love, the dreams you harbor, or even the battles you fight. A list that’s yours alone, and that no one can take from you. Create a playlist on your media player, and listen to it when the world gets so heavy you have to wear a hat. When I was growing up, the radio constantly focused on a single Top 40 list that – beyond a single song or two – just bored me to tears. Couldn’t relate to it. The Internet has changed all that. If you like my list, that’s great, and we can sit around sometime and talk about it. But I’d rather you use the idea to create your own – one that launches you into 2014 with your own big ball of energy. Have a wonderful weekend everyone, and the happiest new year of your life.
